1. Flurry of new music in your pants (and lots of DS music software)

    May 28, 2008 by jef

Holy crazy coders! I’ve seen 3 DS homebrew music apps in just the last week. What is going on? This “cellular automation” app, Glitch DS, seems the wackiest, but the Protein DS app blows my mind for awesomely simple and therefore beautiful UI. Anything with dots rules.

    Glitch DS:

Protein DS (i think the person is filming under a waterfall):

    Protein DS home
    Glitch DS project home
    Bliptracker DS Drum Machine
GrooveStep (posted before but still rad)
DS hardware sequencer w/ all the steps needed for MIDI
DStep DS sequencer (the software used in the above link)
Monome DS (hey! and save $400)
KORG DS-10 (will be released worldwide. hoorah!)

There is something cute about having to load the software from the card and then take the card out to insert your MIDI interface. It reminds me of having to boot from floppys.

  2. Portal Flash

    May 6, 2008 by jef

A finely executed 2D version of Portal in Flash. This is further proof that a game puzzle concept, if it is good, can be equally fun regardless of presentation. The art is really well done and the music is good too.

  3. the fingers you have used to dial… are too fat

    April 10, 2008 by coye

this site contains PLENTY of phone company voice recordings (errors and whatnot), all in both WAV and MP3 formats.

they could make for some clever outgoing messages, ringtones or music samples.

the ones that ask for another 25 cents are my faves

  4. GrooveStep Nintendo DS Step Sequencer.

  7. Video Game Currencies, in U.S. Dollar Equivalent

    April 3, 2008 by jef

In an amazing alignment of nonexistent planets, Maxim writes a good article. The Zelda methodology is a bit suspect but overall the article has heart … and if your hearts are full, you can shoot your sword.

  8. Super Pii Pii Brothers

Super Pii Pii Brothers at Think Geek.

FYI: THIS IS AN APRIL FOOL’S JOKE!

But at least not a rickroll. Anywho once you click the buy link it comes up with the prank message. Believe you me it’s not a far-fetched game idea and I’m not ashamed in the slightest to say i’d buy 20 copies in a heartbeat. The video is awesome, go checkit!

  9. All My (creepy trenchcoat-wearing role-playing general-looking) Japanese Checking Panties (MF).

This is a fun game until you notice how creepy it is which takes about 0 seconds. I only had the heart to play the training level. It’s a good mechanic and great music, though.

  10. namco old school w/sound… on sale

    March 27, 2008 by coye

i order from this joint a lot, and i saw these on their sale page. they’re pkgd in blind boxes, but i think you get a set of 4. each has a sound chip in the base… i think someone at arc had one at their desk, or something similar.
