  2. 12′ Record Collection. Rare. Obviously.

    April 16, 2008 by jef

Well. This always makes me laugh. I’m guessing the rarity would come from the lack of large record players in the US. The dude must have a warehouse.

This is almost as good as when our alderman was talking about the new Florsheim Shoe Factory building that was being turned into condos (thank you for saving it, it’s a great building). He was selling all the features of how great it was going to be on a PowerPoint deck projected on a huge gymnasium wall … you know, the granite counter tops, the parking, how affordable it is, and the 11″ ceilings. Being 2 of the only people under the age of 60 or having english as a primary language my girlfriend and i had a good laugh. In english.

  3. what exactly are “action jeans”???

    April 11, 2008 by coye

  6. Fantavision … 2008

    April 7, 2008 by jef

    oh the pain

Most people probably know Fantavision as a weird PS2 game, but nerds will know it as one of the first (if not the first) consumer computer animation programs for the Apple ][e. It was a bitch to use and you had about 6 colors at your disposal. But it did have rudimentary tweening and a timeline of sorts. I was pleased to run across this amazing video of an Aeriae music video made with Fantavision. The transitions, all of the scene stitching, and some of the major frame movement were done with Final Cut but still, each animation taken separately, it is a gorgeous feat, all done by Wade Clarke on an emulated Apple IIgs on an iMac G5. Wade said it took him 4 months in his spare time to produce the video. It had to be a ton of planning and hours of management of very tiny files. Bless you Wade!

Watch the video and then visit Wade’s making of AMay photo tour.

  9. Bomb the Bass … Rock this Place! (with puppets)

    March 24, 2008 by jef

    btb_butter.jpg

Bomb the bass has made awesome electronic music before it was cool to make awesome electronic music. They also collaborated with big names like Neneh Cherry for her Raw Like Sushi album (still amazing 19 years later, and one of my faves) and Depeche Mode, after Alan Wilder’s departure, on the Ultra album. So i encourage you to check out this amazing music video done by Perish Factory (who has other great videos on their site): Bomb the Bass: Butterfingers (QT movie)
