  2. Japanese Casual Game Lovin

    April 7, 2008 by robert

Ran across a couple interesting games while putting together a deck on casual gaming. The first is You Are Lucky:

it’s all in Japanese, but surprisingly easy to follow.

    Also, Makibishi Comic ,

which is similar to Samorost in it’s visual point and click style.

  3. Pocket physics

I was talking to Davers about homebrew and had to share this gem:
Pocket Physics for the Nintendo DS

(this guy also wrote the awesome NitroTracker DS).

Originally i became aware of this concept from the MIT Whiteboard Physics demo. So how badass is it to have it in your pocket for some hyper-creative Line Rider-esque (although Line Rider is coming to the DS soon) sketching? Very!

Further reading surfaced an accelerometer card for the DS which is made just for apps like Pocket Physics.

  5. Letter of recommendation for position of CEJ

    February 12, 2008 by jef

For immediate release, a letter of recommendation for the position of Chief Executive Jackhole:

Hello sir or madam. I am writing to inform you that the bearer/presenter of this letter is a complete douchebag that doesn’t realize when he is being insanely loud on his cell phone. If he is applying for a position which involves shouting at hapless underlings via telephone, he will do well as he already has all of the required skills. If he is applying for any other position, I must respectfully rescind my endorsement on the basis of his utterly annoying personality.

    Sincerely,
    Richard P. Media

Lovingly crafted by Dan, who, if fired, gets my house and a cupcake.

  6. It wouldn’t be superbowl sunday without some sort of douchebaggery

    February 2, 2008 by dan

So we can add the NFL to the list of companies that don’t understand that alienating your core audience is a suicidally bad idea:

For years, as many as 200 members of Immanuel Bible Church and their friends have gathered in the church’s fellowship hall to watch the Super Bowl on its six-foot screen. The party featured hard hitting on the TV, plenty of food — and prayer.

But this year, Immanuel’s Super Bowl party is no more. After a crackdown by the National Football League on big-screen Super Bowl gatherings by churches, the Springfield church has sacked its event. Instead, church members will host parties in their homes.

  8. Pathetic

There has been a significant amount of progress in the music industry in the past year. Amazon’s DRM free music offering, while suffering from an initially small catalog, is looking quite good. Apple’s iTunes has continued to add more and more plus tracks which are now the same price as their non plus tracks, but come with the advantage of being DRM free. So much progress, and then I see this article on slashdot:
U2’s Manager Calls For Mandatory Disconnects For Music Downloaders

Its such an infuriating Article. The dude has clearly never actually used a computer himself, much less experienced the joy that is a digital download from Amazon’s awesome service. (more…)
