New Autechre album. And it actually has a title.
by jefhttp://www.bleep.com/?bleep=WARPCDD333
Hopefully more organized than the last few efforts. While EP7 and Untitled grew on me eventually, they still didn’t seem to hit on the things that Autechre do well.

Pathetic
January 29, 2008 by danThere has been a significant amount of progress in the music industry in the past year. Amazon’s DRM free music offering, while suffering from an initially small catalog, is looking quite good. Apple’s iTunes has continued to add more and more plus tracks which are now the same price as their non plus tracks, but come with the advantage of being DRM free. So much progress, and then I see this article on slashdot:
U2’s Manager Calls For Mandatory Disconnects For Music DownloadersIts such an infuriating Article. The dude has clearly never actually used a computer himself, much less experienced the joy that is a digital download from Amazon’s awesome service. (more…)

Fire!
January 28, 2008 by danI’m still trying to wrap my head around the concept of a flashlight starting a fire. I guess that makes for one less thing you need in a survival kit.

First In Depth Macbook Air Review
January 26, 2008 by danAfter reading engadget’s review it seemed like we reached the same conclusion about Apple’s new Macbook Air only for different reasons. They mostly hate the lack of removable parts, whereas I mostly hate the fact that a 13″ wide notebook, despite its amazing thinness can by no means be considered a subnotebook. Its just too wide to carry with you EVERYWHERE. The lack of an integrated 3G option was really a shame too.

Orange UK endless flash fun
by jefThis is an Orange promotion for ??? something that doesn’t end. Granted there might be TV support for this concept but it is difficult to figure out what the actual endless thing is. Regardless, this site is really nice, runs well, and i have played on it several times for 5+ minutes each visit. There are great animations and cute little touches of personality in every little button.

Checkland Kindley: an all flash site that doesn’t all suck
January 24, 2008 by jefTypically, flash = suck, in a 1:1 ratio for websites (i guess for anything else too). But this site could almost be an HTML site but the simple, subtle and open design make it very effective … well that and it actually runs very smoothly.
